Catalogue items with no personalisation can be returned within 30 days of delivery, unworn, unwashed and in the condition you received them. Personalised items - anything carrying a name, date, photo or custom text - are made only for you and cannot be returned or exchanged. If something arrives faulty, damaged, wrong or missing, email us within 14 days of delivery and we will put it right. Our Returns page has the full policy.
Two hats share this page, and what separates them is the decoration rather than the shape. One is embroidered, one is printed with DTF. Which one you are looking at is stated on the product itself — it decides the fabric, what the design can show, and how the hat ages.
Embroidered — 100% cotton. The design is stitched into the fabric with thread. No ink is involved, so there is nothing that can crack, peel or fade: the colour is the thread, and the thread lasts as long as the hat does. Cotton is used here because it takes a needle cleanly and holds a stitch without puckering. What you get is a raised, textured design you can feel with a thumb. Its limit is detail — thread cannot render a photograph, a fine gradient or very small lettering, so artwork is simplified into solid shapes and clear type.
DTF printed — cotton and polyester. Direct-to-film transfers the design as a thin, flexible layer bonded to the fabric under heat. Its strengths are the opposite ones: full colour, photographic detail, gradients and small text all reproduce, and the polyester in the blend is what lets the print sit flat and keep its colour. It is the right choice for artwork embroidery cannot carry.
Personalising it. Both decorations can be personalised, and in more than one way. You can add your own text to a design already on the hat, replace text that is part of it — a name, a year, a place — or replace the artwork entirely with your own image. Made after you order. Nothing here is decorated in advance. The hat is embroidered or pressed once the order arrives, which is why one hat with one name is no more work for us than a dozen carrying a dozen different names.
Looking after it. Neither finish likes a tumble dryer, and neither likes being crushed. Hand wash in cool water, reshape while damp, let it air dry. The care panel below is worth reading — the two decorations want slightly different handling.

Nothing here sits in a warehouse — it is printed after you order, which is why production comes first. Personalised items take a day longer.
Look at your design. A logo, a monogram or bold lettering in a few solid colours makes a better hat embroidered: raised, textured, and physically unable to crack or peel. A photograph, an illustration with gradients, or anything carrying small detail should be DTF — thread cannot render those and the print can.

Yes, where the product allows it. Upload the largest version of the file you have. DTF prints at roughly 300 DPI, so a small screenshot will look soft. For embroidery the image is translated into stitches, so photographic shading and fine detail are simplified into solid shapes — that is a limit of thread, not of your file.
Embroidery cannot: it is thread rather than ink, so there is no layer to lift. DTF is a bonded film and stands up to normal wear and washing, but it dislikes a hot dryer and being scrubbed. Hand wash cool and air dry and it stays as it arrived.
We would rather it did not, and that is about the hat rather than the design — a machine drum knocks the crown and the peak out of shape. Hand wash in cool water, reshape while damp, air dry.

On DTF, as small as it stays readable on screen. On embroidery, thread has a minimum stroke width, so very small type fills in and stops being legible. If your design carries fine print and you want it embroidered, enlarging that element usually works better than shrinking everything else.
