A 3 inch ceramic Christmas ornament with a glossy finish, printed on both faces and hung on a satin ribbon that arrives already tied. Both sides carry the same image, which matters more than it sounds: an ornament turns on its ribbon all evening, and a design on one face only spends half that time showing a blank back to the room.

Ceramic, not the thin plastic most printed ornaments use. It has a little weight in the hand, so it sits properly on a branch instead of flipping face-away in a draught, and the glaze keeps its colour rather than yellowing after a few Decembers in a warm loft.

How the design is printed. Sublimated into the glaze under heat, so the image is part of the surface rather than a layer stuck to it. There is nothing to scratch, peel or lift at the edges — which is what usually finishes off a printed ornament somewhere around its third season.
